Two By Two

Two by two there was an ark that filled
With couples feathered, furry, scaled and billed
As well as those pairs of the human kind
The key words double, duo, binary and twosome seem to come to mind

Chorus:
Adam/Eve, Old Abe and Sarah, Mary/Joseph, Liz/Zach’rias
Jimmy/Gloria, John and Janie, see - and you & me
So when you’re feeling sad and lonely, Just recall each other’s “one and only” is
Somewhere out there for eternity

Cats and dogs, together, shoes and socks
Peas and pods, suede/leather, time and clocks
Ham and eggs, salt/pepper, curds and whey
The magic number’s two, wanna fix a world that’s blue
It’s clear as night and day

Chorus:
Adam/Eve, Old Abe and Sarah, Mary/Joseph, Liz/Zach’rias
Jimmy/Gloria, John and Janie, see, there's you & me
So when you’re feeling sad and lonely, Just recall your “one and only” is somewhere, ever after, And yours exclusively

Bridge:
Your better half comes complete with her own tainted wings
Or your bright prince requires some days his neck to wring
But he’s your best friend and she’s your damsel to defend
It’s a fight to the finish to never diminish a trust that just will never end
(Sometimes) Life deals a blow, Cross o’er the snow, Into a land that’s glorious and grand
Though there’s a brake, Soon o’er that lake, There’ll come the day when true love replays

Chorus:
Adam/Eve, Old Abe and Sarah, Mary/Joseph, Liz/Zach’rias
Jimmy/Gloria, John and Janie, see, there's even you & me
So when you’re feeling sad and lonely, Just recall your “one and only” is somewhere, Oh, they’re out there, for eternity
