There's A Lady

(Landmark)
April 16, 2005
K. Landgren
She takes one last look around and she cries, Turns her back on twenty years of her prime
Says goodbye to fallen love, trampled vows, broken heart
Trembling steps to a new start

Chorus: There’s a lady still standing with her head held up high
As tears roll down her cheeks she looks up to the sky
She’s so thankful she lives in such a blessed and great land
Where opportunity and freedom extend to her their hand

And the babe loses it’s quest, so she tries, To be strong for all the rest, but she dies inside
Hungry, cold, and far from home – strangers bound for a place
With the promise of new days

Chorus:
There’s a lady still standing with her head held up high
As tears roll down her cheeks she looks up to the sky
She’s so thankful there’s refuge in such a great land
Where opportunity and freedom extend to them their hand

Suddenly, the autumn groans, black smoke rolls from afar
Time stands still in anguish marred
Cities crumble to their knees, Terror bares a disease
And the war machine convenes

Chorus:
There’s a lady still standing with her torch held up high
As tears roll down her cheeks she looks up to the sky
She’s so lonely receiving in this blessed, great land
Yet, opportunity and freedom extend to all her hand!
